Yesterday, I shared about Casa Loma, our ceremony site and the lead up to my walk down the aisle toward Forever. Today’s post features our beautiful reception venue, The Old Mill Toronto.

The Old Mill Toronto

Like Casa Loma, The Old Mill was also built in 1914. The Tudor-style heritage site boasts lovely gardens and picturesque views of the Humber River.

While no longer a functioning mill, The Old Mill Toronto has become one of the most treasured boutique hotels in the GTA. In addition to its ample events spaces, the property also houses a tea house, popular restaurant and spa.

Why We Chose The Old Mill

Lou, my Toronto native husband, had attended a few weddings at The Old Mill in the past.  When he shared with me how he always envisioned having his own wedding there one day, it was a given! This had to be our reception locale.

The cocktail hour was held in the Humber Room where a violinist played for our guests as they ate an assortment of canapés and enjoyed our two signature drinks. Dinner and dancing took place in the beautiful Guild Hall. Everything about this space is representative of Tudor-style charm. The wood-beamed, ornate plaster ceiling with its dazzling chandeliers; the candelabras which flank its walls and a floor to ceiling window overlooking the terrace, Guildhall exudes rich elegance.

The Reception’s Design

Lou I enjoyed the most beautiful reception one could ever have dreamt of. Decorated to perfection by one of the shining stars at Envision Weddings, Jenna Donnelly, she worked some serious MAGIC! It truly was the most elegantly executed design concept and layout I’ve ever seen. Tears instantly began to flow down my cheeks when we took our first look of the room.

First Glimpse of Our Reception – Thank you Jenna for this gift!

CAKE. Our wedding cake was EPIC! I couldn’t wait to eat it. In fact, I actually made a bit of a fuss about having the it cut so late (my best girl friends and I are known for being connoisseurs of cake. For real, we’re legit serious about cake).
